CRL 95C Silicone is a one-part, low-modulus, neutral-cure silicone sealant that cures to a durable, flexible silicone rubber building joint seal. Designed for sealing expansion and control joints in precast concrete panels, metal curtain walls, perimeter seals around doors and windows, and non-structural glazing of glass, metal and plastic. The formulation provides excellent primerless adhesion in most applications and accommodates ±50% movement in properly designed joints.
CRL 95C forms a watertight bond with glass, ceramics, plastics, stone, masonry, wood, steel, anodized and mill-finish aluminum, and painted surfaces. It is compatible with laminated glass, insulating glass units, and acrylic or polycarbonate glazing sheets. Apply at outdoor temperatures as low as −20°F (−29°C) on clean, dry, frost-free surfaces; cured sealant performs from −40°F (−40°C) to 350°F (177°C).
BASIC USES
Ideal for expansion and control joints, non-structural glazing, and general weatherproofing in commercial construction and curtainwall systems. In most cases no primer is required; where needed, Cat. No. S1L2100 Primer may be used. Always clean and tool sealant for optimal adhesion. CRL 95C is suitable as a weather seal for insulating glass units regardless of primary sealant type (two-part silicones, polysulfides, polyurethanes, or butyls).
COMPARABLE SEALANTS
Comparable to Dow Corning® 795/791, GE® SilPruf® 2000, Tremco® Spectrem® 2/3, Pecora® 864/895, Sonneborn® OmniSeal, Sika® SikaSil®-WS95.
LIMITATIONS
Not for structural glazing, horizontal decks, patios, driveways, terraces subject to physical abrasion, submerged joints, or exterior/interior sealing below the waterline in marine applications. Do not use in totally confined or air-free spaces or on surfaces intended to be painted after sealant application—paint will not stretch with sealant movement. Neutral-cure by-products may cause stress cracking or crazing of polycarbonate; test prior to use. Do not apply to surfaces in direct contact with food. See cartridge label and Specification Data Sheet for full limitations.
