Our innovative CRL Wedge-Lock® Door Rail System (U.S. Patents 6,434,905 and 6,912,818 B2; Canadian Patent 2,419,706; European Patent EP 1 404 939 B1) uses a unique wedge-action to secure the glass from the bottom of the rail. Two glass-retaining aluminum extrusions clamp via a flat stainless steel bar and socket head cap bolts; angled wedges in the rail pull the extrusions together, generating high retention force (more than 900 lbs. in the 9" corner rail). This design creates a strong, reliable hold across full-length door rails.
NOTE: Actual product height: 4-1/16" (103 mm)
The Wedge-Lock® system delivers a fast, secure installation for glass doors—experienced installers can prepare a door in under ten minutes. Rails arrive fully fabricated and ready to install with End Caps installed. After mounting the rail, attach the door arm or pivot (not included) to the adjustable door alignment slide preassembled in the rail.
The adjustable door alignment slide (standard on both top and bottom rails) allows 1/8" (3.2 mm) in/out adjustment toward or away from the jamb without removing the door. To access adjustments, remove the End Cap to reveal three socket head cap bolts: the center bolt secures the slide; the two outer bolts adjust ±1/8" (3.2 mm). The low-profile slide lets pivots with slotted grooves be positioned off the American Standard setback for vertically out-of-square openings.
Other advantages of Wedge-Lock® door rails:
- Accepts 3/8" to 3/4" (10 to 19 mm) glass
- Rigid single-component housing that resists shifting over time
- Internal components remain in place during installation—no removal required
- Durable glass securing pads designed for extreme environments
- Built-in jamb alignment block (arms and pivots ordered separately)
CRL Wedge-Lock® Door Rails come in several standard finishes and can be quoted in custom finishes and widths. Rail specifications, templates, and hardware packages are available from CRL Technical Sales.
Ordering information:
- All door rails include the standard Kwik-Adjust™ Pivot Alignment System; closer arms and floor or overhead pivots must be ordered separately.
