CRL Butyl Architectural Glazing Tape (SKU: GT107) is an extruded, preformed tape on release-paper rolls. Formulated from weather‑resistant butyl rubber, it creates a long‑lasting, flexible exterior glazing seal that accommodates normal expansion/contraction and wind loading. Ideal as a primary spacing and glazing seal when installing glass into a window sash, it also seals metal‑to‑metal, wood‑to‑glass and metal‑to‑plastic joints. Tape thickness is designed for approximately 10% compression at installation to accommodate surface alignment.

Good Glazing Practices

For best results with this butyl architectural glazing tape, adhere to these glazing best practices: surfaces should be free of frost and standing water, brushed and solvent‑washed (MEK, toluene or naphtha) then wiped dry. Provide positive contact and ~10% compression at installation so the tape fully marries surfaces. Keep tape under compression with clips or wedges for optimal weather seals. Use 80 Durometer Shore A setting blocks at sill quarter points; use 50 Durometer Shore A spacing shims when glass lite exceeds 100". Place sill tape at or above the sight line unless a cap bead is specified—if so, place tape 3/16" (4.8 mm) below the sight line. Do not overlap tape ends; butt ends without stretching. Leave release paper in place until ready to set the glass.

Product Warning / Limitations:

For applications above two floors, use a spacer, shim, or a structural cap bead (such as silicone) to prevent over‑compression, or specify
