Overview
- Designed for high-volume glass fabrication and production drilling
- 3/8" diamond matrix depth for extended cutting life
- Two mounting styles: straight shank or Belgian (1/2" gas) thread
CRL PD and PDT Series Metal Bond Diamond Drills (SKU: PDT312) use a multi-layer Italian-made diamond and bronze bond engineered for maximum performance in glass cutting. Metal bond diamond drills provide the longest life of diamond drill types—typically 1,000 to 2,000 holes in 1/4" (6.4 mm) glass with proper maintenance and wet sharpening to expose fresh diamonds. These drills cut faster and run cooler than other drills, with a full 3/8" (10 mm) deep cutting surface filled with diamonds and bronze bond for extended life. Because of their dense construction they are more fragile and should be used in true-running machines on flat glass surfaces. The CRL PD Series includes an extra-long 1-3/8" x 3/8" (35 x 10 mm) shank for positive grip; the CRL PDT Series uses Belgian-style mounting threads (1/2" gas thread) common on U.S. and European glass drilling machines. Suitable for portable machines like the CRL AMZ1 and ideal for production equipment.
Safety Note: Always wear gloves and eye protection when drilling glass. Work on a flat, horizontal surface. Use a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupt Device (Cat. No. GF1) when using electric tools with water or coolant to prevent injury.
For production-grade metal bond diamond drills optimized for glass fabrication, order PDT312 or contact CRL for volume pricing and compatibility details.
