CRL PD and PDT Series Metal Bond Diamond Drills use a specialized diamond-and-brass bond engineered for maximum performance in glass cutting. Metal bond drills deliver the longest life of any diamond drill type—typically 1,000 to 2,000 holes in 1/4" (6.4 mm) glass with proper wet sharpening to expose fresh diamonds. These Italian-made, multi-layer drills cut faster and run cooler than many alternatives and feature a full 3/8" (10 mm) deep cutting surface packed with diamonds and bronze bond for extended life. Because of their deep diamond matrix, they are more fragile and should be used only in true-running machines on flat glass surfaces. The CRL PD Series adds an extra-long 1-3/8" x 3/8" (35 x 10 mm) shank for secure holding; the CRL PDT Series offers Belgian-style mounting threads (1/2" / 12.7 mm gas thread) compatible with most U.S. and European glass drilling machines. Suitable for production equipment and some portable drills (e.g., CRL AMZ1), these metal bond diamond drills are optimized for high-volume glass drilling and precision holemaking.

NOTE: Always wear gloves and eye protection when drilling glass. Perform work on a flat, horizontal surface. Use a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (Cat. No. GF1) when operating electric tools with water or coolant. Failure to follow safety precautions can result in operator injury.
