SKU: RTV408BL
CRL RTV408 Industrial & Construction Silicone is a neutral-cure, medium‑modulus, 100% silicone sealant that cures to a tough, flexible rubber when exposed to moisture. This industrial construction silicone sealant offers primerless adhesion to aluminum, stainless steel, most plastics, rigid PVC (vinyl), phenolic resin, glass, ceramic, and most reflective-coated glasses. For best results, clean all surfaces and tool the sealant; Cat. No. S1L2100 primer may be required for some substrates. See our Sealant Guidelines to Good Glazing for recommended practices.
BASIC USES: Fast cure time and easy tooling make RTV408 ideal for production and glazing applications including insulating glass, curtainwall joints, vinyl/steel/aluminum windows, skylights, and many marine and vehicle sealing or electrical insulation tasks. Non-corrosive to most metals and compatible with alkaline materials (mortar and cement). Retains flexibility and resists cracking from approximately -65° to 400°F (-54° to 204°C). Can be applied in temperatures from -20°F (-29°C) to 100°F (38°C) on clean, dry, frost‑free surfaces. RTV408W and RTV408T include a fungicide for mildew-resistant cured sealant.
Packaging & Accessories: Cartridges include Screw-On Nozzles (4" / 102 mm) for greater yield; trim to desired bead size. To order extra nozzles, specify Cat. No. S1LN0Z.
LIMITATIONS: Not recommended for concrete/stone expansion joints, horizontal decks or driveways subject to abrasion, submerged joints where porous surfaces permit water infiltration, structural glazing, food-contact or potable water, mirrors, or certain plastics (see warning). Check cartridge label and Specification Data Sheet for additional limitations.
TECHNICAL COMPLIANCE: Meets Federal Specs TT-S-001543A Class A and TT-S-00230C Class A; ASTM C-920 (Type S, Grade NS, Class 25, Use NT, G, A, O); CAN/CGSB 19.13-M87; AAMA 802.3-10 Type II, 803.3-10 Type I, 808.3-10. Compliant with California Air Resources Board 2003 VOC limits and qualifies for LEED credit.
