CRL 28 in Window Sash Channel Balance 2730 (27-3) Replacement

• Measures 5/8" (16 mm) depth — commonly referred to in the trade as 1/2" (13 mm)
• Available in 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 weight-range balances in lengths from 13" to 43" (330 mm to 1.09 m)

Each CRL FA Series 3/30 Weight Range Sash Balance (SKU FA2730) requires one of several nylon guides riveted to the top and bottom of the metal channel. For a strong, reliable rivet set, use Cat. No. H3740 Rivet Set Tool (sold separately). These sash balances are designed for smooth vertical window operation and long service life.

Ordering tips for FA Series sash balances

Remove the existing channel balance from the window and measure the metal channel only — do not include the guides. Record the length in full-inch increments. Use the stamped or laser-etched ID on the back of the channel balance (four numbers or two numbers and a letter), for example: 2710 or 27-2.

If the stamped ID and measured length match the chart, select the corresponding CRL part (for example: 1710 or 17-1 on an 18" channel = FA1710). If you have a full 27" channel and the ID reads 2610 or 26-1, select FA2610. The chart lists vent weight ranges indicating the sash weight a pair of channel balances will hold; it does not account for excessive weatherstrip friction.

Note: Some manufacturers used special 1/2" (12.7 mm) increment channel lengths. These are not stocked but can be special ordered. Also, the first two numbers of the CRL catalog number do not represent channel length — always verify the stamped ID.

Special weight-range channel balances (single-weight designs such as 90, 9, or DS suffixes) are available by special order; these indicate a specific sash weight (for example 2790-26 or 27DS-34) and may be intended for upper or lower sashes only. Provide that information when ordering.
