CRL Foam Glazing Tape is a closed-cell polyethylene foam glazing tape with an aggressive acrylic adhesive formulated for easy positioning on curved or irregular surfaces. Designed for exterior glazing sealant applications where glass repositioning is important, it adheres to wood, vinyl, aluminum, and glass and is suitable for windows, storefronts, demountable partitions, louvers, access panels, doors, and other operable or temporary joints.
CRL Foam Glazing Tape functions as a primary or secondary seal and is self-shimming—no separate shims or spacers are required. Its patented cellular foam construction resists weathering and water absorption while providing a long-lived seal. Joints sealed with foam glazing tape (adhesive on one side) can be opened, repositioned, and reused; the non-adhesive face typically releases cleanly from most surfaces and the tape recovers most of its original thickness after compression.
Key features:
- Simplicity: no clean-up, easy handling, no mixing or special equipment required
- Preformed tape for consistent, accurate application—no shim required
- Remains flexible at low temperatures and dimensionally stable at high temperatures
- Special non-yellowing, non-staining, water-white adhesives for a clean appearance
- Seals effectively against water, dust, and light
- Available in a variety of sizes
A minimum of 30% compression is recommended to maintain an effective moisture seal; in small lites this can be achieved by applying pressure directly to the tape when installing glazing stops. In most lites, using a compression wedge gasket is recommended. Apply tape with firm, uniform pressure to a clean, dry surface without stretching (the paper liner indicates if the tape has been stretched). Cut and butt corners rather than overlapping; apply a thin bead of an approved sealant at intersections after liner removal. CRL Foam Glazing Tape is compatible with other sealing and glazing compounds.
