CRL Foam Glazing Tape (SKU 74418X1GRY) is a closed-cell polyethylene foam glazing tape with adhesive on one side. The aggressive acrylic adhesive allows precise positioning on curved or irregular surfaces with light pressure. Designed for exterior glazing sealant applications where glass repositioning is important before final setting, it adheres reliably to wood, vinyl, aluminum, and glass.
Specifically engineered as a primary or secondary seal in glazing systems, this self-shimming tape eliminates the need for shims or spacers. Constructed with a patented cellular foam structure, it resists weathering and water absorption while delivering a long-lived seal suitable for exterior fenestration and energy-efficient glazing projects.
Joints sealed with CRL Foam Glazing Tape can be opened, closed, and repositioned without the mess of traditional sealants. The non-adhesive face generally releases cleanly from most surfaces, and the tape recovers most of its original thickness after opening—ideal for demountable partitions, louvers, formwork, access panels, doors, and other operable or temporary joints.
Key features of CRL foam glazing tape with adhesive on one side:
- Simplicity: no clean-up, no mixing, no special equipment required
- Preformed tape for consistent, accurate application—no shim required
- Remains flexible at low temperatures and dimensionally stable at high temperatures
- Special non-yellowing, non-staining water-white adhesives for a clean appearance
- Superior resistance to weathering, oxidation, and ultraviolet exposure
- Effective sealing against water, dust, and light
- Available in a variety of sizes for glazing and fenestration projects
For an effective moisture seal, a minimum compression must be maintained. Manufacturer guidance includes a recommended minimum compression of 30% in most applications; the product warning also references a 15% compression requirement for some vinyl foam variants—follow project-specific installation instructions.
