CRL Foam Glazing Tape is a closed-cell polyethylene foam glazing tape with an aggressive acrylic adhesive on one side. Designed for exterior and interior glazing applications, it bonds to wood, vinyl, aluminum, and glass and allows glass repositioning before final setting. The patented cellular foam construction is self-shimming, resists water absorption and long-term weathering, and delivers a durable, long-lived seal for fenestration projects.
Typical applications: demountable partitions, louvers, formwork, access panels, doors, operable or temporary joints, and exterior glazing where clean removal and repositioning are required. The non-adhesive face releases cleanly from most surfaces and the tape recovers most of its original thickness after joint opening.
Key features
- Simple to apply — no mixing, special equipment, or clean-up required
- Preformed tape provides consistent, accurate application; no shim required
- Remains flexible at low temperatures and dimensionally stable at high temperatures
- Non-yellowing, non-staining water-white adhesive for a clean appearance
- Seals effectively against water, dust, and light
- Available in a variety of sizes
- ENERGY STAR® partner product — suitable for energy-efficient fenestration
Installation notes: A minimum of 30% compression is recommended to provide an effective moisture seal; in small lites this may be achieved by applying pressure directly when installing glazing stops. For most lites, use of a compression wedge gasket is recommended. Apply with firm, uniform pressure to a clean, dry surface without stretching (the paper liner will indicate stretching). Tape corners should be cut and butted together rather than overlapped; apply a thin bead of approved sealant at intersections after liner removal. CRL Foam Glazing Tape is compatible with other sealing and glazing compounds.
Product Warning:
CRL Vinyl Foam Glazing Tape notes indicate it must be compressed 15% to maintain
